Second Daybreakers Poster

This is not exactly the poster one would expect from a vampire movie. Especially not after the first, much more genre standard, poster. But it does make sense once you take into account that the film takes place in the near future and that an important plot point is that vampires are now harvesting humans in blood farms. Which I guess is what is being depicted in here.

Considering the glut of vampire themed movies, tv series and books I imagine this was an attempt to differentiate Daybreakers by focusing more on it’s sci-fi elements. Understandable, and the image itself is pretty great.

However, it is a little hard to tell what is happening here if you didn’t already know the movie’s story. And there is a danger that comes with leaving the whole vampire theme so in the background. Danger of seeming simply like a sci-fi movie, and not as a vampire movie with sci-fi elements.

And yes, this is perhaps a little too reminiscent of the Matrix movie and their human harvesting installations.

So, yeah, I’m not sure how successful the effort was. But I appreciate what they tried to do, and the human harvest is probably the most striking element of the movie’s concept, so I’m not sure they could have done much better.

Sherlock Holmes Poster

The Sherlock Holmes posters so far have been pretty consistent visually, always sporting some fog, and blue tinge (a little more pronounced here) and backgrounds that scream period. Not earth shattering stuff, but distinctive enough to to be remembered and essentially ok for a movie which will be sold as “Robert Downey Jr. IS Sherlock Holmes!” anyway. Just get Downey out there looking like Sherlock and make a poster that isn’t completely boring to look at.

The humor is throwing me off a little bit though, especially as portrayed by the tagline. “Holmes for the Holiday”. Are we supposed to consider this to be an example of the supreme wit that will be displayed by Sherlock in the movie? My guess is that the film will have the kind of combination of drama and sometimes caustic humor that we see in, to pick the most obvious example, House, but the tagline isn’t exactly giving me confidence that they got the humor part of the formula right. And to be quite honest, Jude Law’s expression isn’t quite encouraging either.

This are probably just quirks of the poster, not very representative of the actual movie. But it would be nice if they were gone

Invictus Poster

Yes it is a tired design, one we have seen many times. But so are most poster designs this days. This has the merit of being a particularly good execution of a well known design. Harmonious, good balance of colors and the choice of the images that are used of the main characters strikes me as close to perfect. The result is a poster that exudes class and that is, despite the unoriginal design, nice to look at.

I would never call this a great poster. I need more creativity to call something great. In fact, I might need some more creativity to even unambiguously call it good. But it still a reminder that even if you are going for a safe, star centric poster there are many better options than the “classic” floating heads over the horizon look. And a little effort on the execution can make a big difference.

The Penguins of Madagascar is a spin-off of the Madagascar films, which takes place after the second movie. The series follows the adventures of four penguins: Skipper, Kowalski, Private and Rico, who perform various missions to protect their home in the Central Park Zoo. The penguins are constantly opposed by a trio of lemurs, Julien, Mort and Maurice, who believe that Julien is the rightful ruler of the zoo.
The penguins freeze their habitat so they can play a hockey game against each other. They are then challenged by a group of rats (the same rats featured in Crown Fools) to play against them, since the rats cannot go back into their sewer home because the pipes burst. Having been led to believe that the rats were not experienced in the game of hockey, the penguins agree to the game, agreeing also that the ice would then belong to the winner.

The movie opens with Chun Li narrating her experience growing up aspiring to be a concert pianist. As a child, she moves from San Francisco to Hong Kong with her family. There, along with piano, she learns Wushu from her father, Xiang, who is a well connected businessman. One night, her home is attacked by Bison and his henchman. Chun Li's father fights them off until Balrog grabs a hold of a young Chun Li, forcing him to surrender. As Bison and his men are leaving with Xiang, Chun Li's mother tries to stop them. Balrog just punches her.

Years later, Chun Li grows up and becomes a talented concert pianist. At the end of one of her concerts, she receives a scroll written in Ancient Chinese text. On her way home, she sees a mysterious homeless man getting assaulted by street thugs. After the thugs leave, Chun Li tends to him and notices a spiderweb tattoo on his hand. Meanwhile, Xiang is shown working for Bison as a prisoner. In return for his services, he is allowed to view pictures of his daughter all grown up. Back home, Chun Li's mother finally loses her battle to cancer as Chun Li and her servants mourn her loss at a funeral

Elsewhere, we see Nash and Maya investigating a murder of several heads of criminal syndicate families in Bangkok. Chun Li on the side is meeting with a wise old lady in town who studies the scroll and tells her to find a man named Gen in Bangkok, revealing to her an image of the same spiderweb she saw tattooed on the homeless man's hand. With a new goal in mind, Chun Li leaves her home and heads to Bangkok. After weeks of searching for Gen without any luck, she sees a man being assaulted in an alley by thugs. Chun Li comes to his rescue and fights them. After a long battle ended by finishing them with a Bike Rack Drop Ultra move, Chun Li collapses in exhaustion. There, we see Gen pick her up to take her to his home.

Gen tells Chun Li that he knows how to find her father and that Bison has him, but that she also needs anger management. In response, she goes to an internet cafe and logs onto shoryuken.com to find out more about Bison, who is now holding the families of property owners hostage in order to force them to sign their property over to him. Upon leaving, one of the owners is asked to hand over the rights to a docking harbor, allowing the shipment of the "White Rose". Chun Li overhears this. Meanwhile at Interpol, Nash figures out that Bison's headquarters are right across the street from the Police Station.

Later that night, Cantana, one of Bison's secretaries, goes to a nightclub. Chun Li spies on her and notices her jocking the girls in the club. Chun Li moves in and seductively dances with her before casually walking away into the bathroom. Cantana, sex driven, follows her and locks the bathroom window. There, Chun Li beats her into giving out the location of the White Rose. Cantana's bodyguards come back and Chun Li escapes after a brief shootout.

We are then told of Bison's origins. He is the son of Irish missionaries. He grew up an orphan having to steal fish from people in Thailand. In order to lose his conscience, he forced his daughter out of the womb of his wife prematurely. This somehow transferred his conscience into her. Back at Gen's home, Bison's henchmen come after Gen and Chun Li. Gen fights them off until Balrog blows up his house with a rocket launcher. With Gen gone and nowhere to be found, Chun Li runs off. She is then attacked by Vega, who she defeats soundly and hangs upside down since his claws weren't sharp enough to cut rope.

Chun Li then heads to the harbor and interrogates an employee into telling her the arrival time of the White Rose. Later that night, this turns out to be a trap as several Shadaloo soldiers capture her. Chun Li is then taken back to Shadaloo headquarters and is reunited with her father. Bison tells her that Xiang outlived his usefulness and breaks his neck, killing him. Bison and Balrog leave Chun Li to the henchman to finish off. Chun Li however escapes when they try to swing her around from the ceiling like a pinata. As she runs away, she is shot in the arm by Balrog. Before Balrog could recapture her, the crowd begins throwing durians at him. This scares Balrog as he drives off in his Benz. Chun Li meanwhile, is rescued again by Gen, who survived the explosion.

Chun Li approaches Nash and tells him she needs backup to take down Bison. Nash and Maya oblige as Chun Li approaches the dock employee who set her up last time. The employee tells her that he was forced into deceiving her and tells her the real arrival time. Chun Li doubts him at first, but he points to the white board at the arrival time, proving that it is true. At the dock later that night, Interpol agents engage in a shootout with Shadaloo soldiers. On a ship, Chun Li finds a girl asking where her father is. Meanwhile, Gen fights Balrog and kills him by stabbing him with a pipe spraying nitrogen. We later find out that the girl is Bison's daughter and her name is Rose, making her the White Rose. Bison takes her in and welcomes her warmly.

Bison walks into his office where he is ambushed by Gen. Gen however is no match for him. Sensing his daughter in danger, Bison goes back to his daughters room, where he finds she is gone. Gen shows up again and ambushes Bison, getting beaten up again. Chun Li then comes in and fights Bison. After a long battle, she hits him with a bamboo pole a couple times and drops some sandbags on him, making him dizzy. She then charges up a Kikoken and shoots it at him, knocking him off the scaffolding they were fighting on, then jumping on his neck and twisting it, killing him.

Back home, Chun Li is settled down as Gen pays her a visit. He shows her an ad for a Street Fighter tournament, telling her about a Japanese fighter named "Ryu something". Chun Li declines, saying that she's home for now.

That was the explicit acronym that I am sure popped into every wrestling fan's head after The Great Khali won the Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer Battle Royal to earn a WWE title shot at Summerslam next month.

Yes, it was Khali, not Umaga, Mr. Kennedy, Big Show, Montel Vontavious Porter, or the ever so popular, Jeff Hardy. The Great Khali's win and title shot may not be very popular with fans, but I can't blame them.

After all, Khali is not exactly the Dean Malenko of the squared circle. Triple vs. The Great Khali can make or break Smackdown's crowded main event/upper midcard right now.

On one hand, Triple H winning at Summerslam would be a nice win, but extremely predictable. The Game has not exactly been booked as a human being the last few months, but rather more like The Terminator with a lot more charisma.

A win over Triple H would reestablish Khali as an unstoppable monster that can, at times, be fun to watch. Not only that, but I do not think WWE should pull the trigger on another Jeff Hardy vs. Triple H just yet.
If Khali were to win the WWE title, he could have an intriguing David and Goliath/Big dog vs. Underdog feud with Jeff Hardy overcoming the odds at the end. Here's the catch: Triple H would help Jeff Hardy beat Khali.

That could set up a huge feud between the two, with The Game stating Hardy could never beat the real world champion (even though he did last year at Armageddon). Triple H could also state that he was robbed by Khali and Ranjin Singh. That could lead to a blow off match with Khali en route to the money match with the Charismatic Enigma.

I am not trying to say The Great Khali would be the best World Champion, but he would certainly be believable and make Triple H look human for the first time in awhile.

Furthermore, Khali would be a serviceable transitional champion to drop the belt to Jeff Hardy or even the underrated Big Show. That way Triple H's only major loss on Smackdown! would be from a behemoth with the help of his manager. This would allow him to retain his heat.

In the long run, a Khali title win could help Smackdown! more than hurt the brand. I love Triple H, but going through heels like toilet paper is not the only way he should be booked. He needs a serious threat and if booked correctly, The Great Khali could be just that.

The Great Khali may never be the great WWE Champion, but with size, strength, and a serious streak, he would certainly be the right guy to help transition the belt to Jeff Hardy or another superstar not named Triple H.

The film opens with a sequence designed to look like a classic video game, depicting Chev Chelios' (Jason Statham) fall from a helicopter during the final moments of the original Crank. Immediately after his fall, he is scooped off the street via snow shovel by group of Chinese medics and removed from the scene.

He wakes up in a makeshift hospital and sees doctors removing his heart while Johnny Vang (Art Hsu) watches. The doctors place Chev's heart in a red cooler with a padlock, and place a clear plastic artificial heart in his chest. Chev passes out.

Chev comes to some time later as an Asian woman is taking his temperature (rectally). Two doctors come in and talk about their plans to remove more of Chev's organs, including his penis. Chev beats up the doctors and stands up. He notices a yellow battery pack is attached to him, which he leaves on, and walks down the hall. The other rooms contain prostitutes, and he steals a set of clothes from one of the rooms without the occupants noticing. Outside, he gets in a gunfight and interrogates a thug in order to learn Johnny Vang's name and his location (Cypress Social Club), and then sets off to look for him.

On the road, Chev finds a phone in his pocket, and calls Doc Miles (Dwight Yoakam), who tells him that he has been fitted with an AbioCor Artificial heart. Once the external battery pack runs out, the internal battery will kick in and he will have one hour before it stops working. After the call, Chev asks a nearby driver where to find the Cypress Social Club, but crashes his car in the middle of the conversation, destroying his external battery pack. In order to keep going, Chev has the driver use his jumper cables on himself, and runs to the Cypress Social Club.

Upon arriving, Chev inadvertently saves a prostitute named Ria (Bai Ling) from an abusive, fat customer. Ria kills the customer and is immediately infatuated with Chev, claiming he Kevin Costner to her Whitney Houston (ala The Bodyguard). Vang escapes (still carrying the red, padlocked cooler) and Chev wants nothing to do with Ria, but she claims to know where Vang is. She takes Chev to Strip Please, where Chev is shocked to find into his old girlfriend Eve Lydon (Amy Smart). Apparently the public sex scene in Crank made her more sexually adventurous, and she thought he was dead (Chev learns that three months have passed, and it is revealed that the telephone message he left her at the end of the first movie was unintelligible due to the wind). In a back room, Vang has been cornered by a group of Mexican gangsters, led by Chico (Joseph Julian Soria), who shows he means business by chopping off a man's elbow. Vang agrees to let them have Chev, and apparently escapes. Chev is confronted by the Mexicans, and a gunfight breaks out. Everyone gets gunned down by Chev, except Chico, who escapes out a back door. Chev interrogates a wounded gangster, who informs him that El Huron (Clifton Collins, Jr.) is trying to kill him, but doesn't know why. Chev picks up Eve and they walk out.

Outside, he is met by a group of cops, who begin beating him down. He is weakened, but one of them inadvertently charges Chev by using a taser on him. Chev steals a cop car with Eve and another stripper in the back, who tells Chev that he should look at the Hollywood horse racetrack for Johnny Vang. They encounter a group of porn stars protesting low wages, and Chev is forced to escape, leaving Eve in the back of the cop car. In a nearby park, Chev steals an electric dog collar from a gay couple and uses it to zap himself.

Chev is about to be picked up by cops when he is picked up on a motorcycle by Venus (Efren Ramirez), who reveals himself to be Kaylo's brother. He also has Full Body Tourette's Syndrome. At first, Chev tells Venus that everyone responsible for his brother's death is dead, but this prompts Venus to leave. Wanting his help, Chev tells Venus that El Huron was involved but escaped.

At the horse tracks, Chev is losing energy. He calls Doc Miles and learns that the heart can be charged through the skin by means of friction. He rubs up on a couple of racetrack patrons (including Chester Bennington, who also had a cameo in the original film, and an old woman), but finally Eve shows up and really helps stimulate Chev. They have sex on the racetrack while the crowd cheers, and Chev is restored to full energy. Chev spots Vang and once again leaves Eve behind (much to the dismay of the crowd) and chases Vang through the parking garage. Vang escapes, however, and Chev is about to be subdued by security when Don Kim, the Chinese gangster who saved Chev's life in the first film, picks Chev up in his limo.

Don Kim informs Chev that there is a leader in the Triads named Poon Dong (David Carradine), who was in need of a heart transplant. When he heard of Chev's ability to withstand the Chinese adrenaline poison, he put out an order for Chev's heart. Don Kim then tells Chev that he wishes to return him to Poon Dong for a reward. Upon hearing this, Chev kills all of Don Kim's henchmen, including the limo driver, and shoots Don Kim several times. The limo then crashes, and Chev steals another car. Meanwhile, Eve is arrested, and Venus calls in Orlando (Reno Wilson) to assist in tracking down El Huron. Chico reports his failure to El Huron, who forces Chico to cut off his own nipples.

While driving, Chev is cut off by an ambulance. He boards the ambulance and is surprised to see the EMTs are working on Don Kim. He demands a new battery pack for his artificial heart, and the EMT is forced to stop working while he hooks it up. Don Kim dies, and Chev exits the limo upon seeing Johnny Vang on the street outside.

Chev hides, but Ria reappears and is hit by a passing car trying to get Chev's attention. Vang tries to escape in a car, but the car drives off without him, and Chev chases Vang to an electric plant, where there is a Godzilla-inspired fight where Chev and Vang (stuntmen with exaggerated, cartoon masks of the actors) fight on a tiny power-plant stage. Upon winning, Chev discovers that Vang's red cooler holds something other than his heart (something Chev claims is terribly offensive, but which is never revealed). Chev calls Doc Miles again, and learns that his heart is already transplanted into Poon Dong, but promises to find him for Chev. Chev goes to ask Johnny Vang, but Johnny Vang is shot and killed by Chico, and they knock Chev unconscious.

There is a dream sequence of sorts, showing Chev as a youngster, with his mother (Geri Haliwell) on the Luke Canard show talking about his violent tendencies as a boy. Eve is interrogated by police, but refuses to rat Chev out. Doc Miles uses his assistant Chocolate to lure Poon Dong in, and knocks him out.

Chev is awakened by electric shocks to his testicles, and is dragged by speedboat to an island where El Huron awaits. El Huron explains to Chev that he is the third Verona brother, and is very upset that Chev killed Ricky (Jose Pablo Cantillo) and Alex Verona (Jay Xcala). He says he is going to kill Chev, removing his new battery pack, but there is someone who will enjoy watching it, and drags Chev over to a white tent in the pool area, where he reveals Ricky Verona's head, being kept alive in a tank by a group of scientists, speaking in a Steven Hawking-like electronic voice. Chev is whipped for Verona's pleasure, and is about to die when Orlando, Venus, and Ria show up, each with their own group of gunfighters, and chaos breaks out. Venus attempts to take El Huron down with nunchakus.

Chev smashes open Verona's tank and kicks his head into a pond when it demands water, but starts to slow down. He climbs an electric pylon nearby and grabs the wires to recharge, but is flung off of it upon contact. Venus is fighting El Huron and is about to lose when Chev reappears, still partially on fire from the electricity. He beats El Huron to death (while still burning), and throws his body in the pond next to Ricky's head. In a hallucinogenic state, Chev then tries to hug Ria (thinking she is Eve) but accidentally sets her on fire as well, and she runs off screaming. His flesh burning and his face melting, Chev walks towards the camera, giving the middle finger to the audience in the final moment of the film.

During the first part of the credits, Doc Miles places Chev's heart back in (although we don't see what he does with Poon Dong) while Eve watches (due to the fire, Chev is covered in full-body bandages). At first, it looks like a failure, but after everyone leaves, Chev's eyes open, and his heart is heard beating.

Disney’s Oren Aviv Head Production genesis talking about some project they appear on the con. One of the film is still in the forefront of everyone’s mind is the fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

a few weeks ago producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that they are working on the script, but Aviv and Disney on board that as we learned when we find that they have a plan for rolling film in the film as early as next year.

“We’ll shoot ‘Pirates 4′ in April and May of next year,” Aviv to us during our interview. “We will release, hopefully in 2011 is the plan.” He said that currently they can only do one film at this time would “hopefully be the first of another trilogy.”

He agreed that there is a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow’s back story that we have not seen, but without confirming or deny that we can see that some in the fourth film. There is still word on whether Gore Verbinski will come back for the fourth film.

The trailer starts with Freddy (still alive) being chased down a dark street by the mob that winds up killing him. He’s shouting that he’s innocent, but the mob corners him and burns him alive. As the flames come around him, he tears off his jacket, revealing the iconic sweater.

We hear the “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you” song being sung by children and flashes of kids all around a graveyard. One little girl has the claws slashed across her dress.

There’s a girl in her room, reaching for something on a shelf and suddenly’s Freddy’s head is there, staring at her from behind. A number of kids are shown, obviously under the effect of Freddy’s dream powers. One seems to be having a seizure on a rooftop and another is trying to burn herself with a car cigarette lighter.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is set to hit theaters April 30, 2010.

The film, produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, is based on a 2005 animated short by director Shane Acker, which was nominated for an Academy Award. Wood plays the title character, a curious Outsider to the clan that soon becomes its most important member.

The nine Sack-like beings were created in the waning days of humanity by a character referred to as The Scientist. His goal was to have life on Earth continue even after he and the rest of the human population were gone. Connelly added a bit of background on the film’s storyline.

Both Wood and then Connelly said the original short was a great springboard into the feature film and that having that allowed them to more easily Identify the post-apocalyptic world that was created and the creatures that inhabited it. Opening in theaters on 9/9/09.

EW has posted another photo from “Iron Man 2.” Photo shows Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in a racing suit.

Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Garry Shandling, and John Slattery also star in Jon Favreau-directed sequel.

The film takes place “six months after Stark revealed his identity as Iron Man” at the end of the first movie.

The plan is to digitally insert Pattinson, who plays swoony good guy vampire Edward Cullen, into a scene that was filmed much earlier - one in which he appears as a spectral vision to his costar, Kristen Stewart, cautioning her headstrong character, Bella Swan, against hanging out with some unsavory-looking biker types.

In “New Moon,” Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and she finds her loyalties tested.

Robin Williams stars as Lance Clayton, a man who has learned to settle. He dreamed of being a rich and famous writer, but has only managed to make it as a high school poetry teacher. His only son Kyle (Daryl Sabara) is an insufferable jackass who won’t give his father the time of day. He is dating Claire (Alexie Gilmore), the school’s adorable art teacher, but she doesn’t want to get serious, or even acknowledge publicly that they are dating.

Then, in the wake of a freak accident, Lance suffers the worst tragedy and greatest opportunity of his life. He is suddenly faced with the possibility of all the fame, fortune and popularity he ever dreamed of, if he can only live with the knowledge of how he got there.

The dark comedy, both written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, first debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, stars Robin Williams, Daryl Sabara and Alexie Gilmore among the others will hit theaters on August 21st, 2009 in limited release.

During the opening credits, news of UFO sightings around the world appear.

Jack Bruno (Dwayne Johnson) is a cab driver in Las Vegas, who is picking up and dropping off passengers to the UFO convention at the Planet Hollywood Casino and Hotel. One of his passengers is Dr. Alex Friedman (Carla Gugino), a failed scientist who is giving speeches about legitimate scientific theories of UFOs and outer space.

The next day Bruno is approached by two large men telling him that Wolff would like to see him. After fighting them, Bruno drives off, later noticing two children, Sara (AnnaSophia Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig) sitting in the back seat of the cab. They tell him they need to go to a certain destination and are willing to pay all they have ($15,000) to get there. They lead him to a run down house in the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile, Major Henry Burke (Ciaran Hinds) is searching for information on the two aliens that landed some days earlier.

When they arrive at the house, the children tell Bruno that they will be re-united with their relatives soon. Before leaving Bruno hears a crash coming from the house. He is startled to find them hiding behind a couch. Though grateful for his concern, the children tell him they must continue their journey without him, as they can trust no one. Nevertheless, Bruno decides to follow them, which leads him to the basement of the house. There the kids are pursued and attacked by a strange creature as they retrieve an object in a plant. They manage to escape from this creature.

When leaving they are attacked by a "Siphon", a creature built to destroy a certain targetin this case the children. The Siphon pursues them until it causes a crash of his spaceship into a train, the creature survives, though wounded. The trio eventually find themselves in a small town, hiding. They explain to Bruno that they are aliens from an distant planet, who are sent to Earth by their parents because the government of their dying planet intends to attack and invade Earth so that their kind may live on there. They also explain that the object they obtained at the house contains the results of an experiment which their parents set up. The research from this experiment will save their planet without having to attack and invade Earth. However their planet's military prefer the idea of invading Earth and sent the Siphon assassin to stop them. They are next pursued by government agencies trying to retrieve the children for experiments.

They are joined by Dr. Friedman at the UFO Expo, who is familiar with outer space and travel. When the Siphon arrives, it prepares to attack but Sara uses her powers to knock him through a wall. At first the children are captured along with Bruno and Friedman. Nevertheless the two humans escape and come to rescue the kids. The Siphon causes a distraction by attacking the base. They manage to free the children and reach their ship. By running the Siphon over they can escape but the Siphon hangs on and gets on board. Bruno and Seth battle the Siphon in the lower sections of the ship, unmasking him in the fight. Finally, Bruno defeats the evil alien by knocking him out of the ship's airlock, which kills him. Nothing is mentioned about the fate of Henry Burke, though he was last seen disappointed and upset for his failure and was talking to his boss on the phone, with a possibly of getting fired. The kids drop Jack and Alex off and after a tearful goodbye, they head back to their ship, but give Bruno and Alex a device that will allow the kids to always find them. And Sara gives Jack the power to use his brain to the mind reading ability.

During the end credits, Bruno and Dr. Friedman (now a couple) are speaking at a UFO convention about their new successful book called "Race to Witch Mountain". The last scene shows them driving off in a car Bruno dreamed of getting honestly as he had mentioned to Friedman earliera Ford Mustang similar to that driven by Steve McQueen in ''Bullitt''. As they are about to leave, the device the kids gave Bruno before they left goes off, indicating that they may be returning

Whiplash is the alter ego of Ivan Vanko, a Russian who, Favreau says, “has constructed his own version of a suit.” Among the creative alterations: a pair of whips, powered by the suit’s glowing chest piece, expected to keep Iron Man cracking. Whiplash “is going to light them up,” says Rourke.

“Iron Man 2″ also stars Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes,Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, , Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer.

Clocking in at over 2 1/2 hours long, there’s no sense of urgency detected in Potterdom this time around. And why would there be? Young love is in the air. Never mind all that business with the Dark Lord and his minions, who seem to be waging an all-out assault against our heroes when they aren’t otherwise preoccupied with “snogging.”

Early test screenings yielded complaints that the whole movie focused on romance and that the action was backgrounded. These complaints are, amazingly, right and wrong at the same time. Yes, the focus on the film is about the romances between the characters, but these romances don’t happen in a vacuum. If Broadbent is the cornerstone performance, Radcliffe’s is the pinnacle. Make no mistake - this is Daniel Radcliffe’s movie. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley, David Thewlis as Remus Lupin and Oliver Phelps as George Weasley

Jim Broadbent joins the cast in this film as Professor Slughorn — it’s always delightful to see yet another veteran British character actor appearing in the Harry Potter series. Broadbent’s Slughorn is a little less insinuating and power-hungry than the character in the book, and less rotund than I’d imagined the character, but I have no objection to these improvements.

Fans of the book may feel unhappy that some of their favorite parts are changed or omitted. However, as a movie dependent on earlier films in the series, Half-Blood Prince provides a carefully plotted story with plenty of humor to counterbalance the darker moments. Yates, who also directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, has managed to find the best way to tell the Harry Potter stories effectively on film — as a tight suspense film that isn’t too scary for older kids, with a good dose of humor, Young Love, and charm. I’m not going to compare and rank this film up against the others in the series (better than #4, #3 still best) because I haven’t seen some of them in years, but this movie has me looking forward to the final two in the series, and even hoping that some of the seventh book’s flaws will vanish in the movie adaptations….read more [Cinematical]

New Moon Movie Synopsis:

Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) are completely in love. Edward is traditional and generous, and no matter how much Bella likes to keep things on the down-low, he wants to celebrate her birthday with his entire family.

However, there’s always a risk when Bella visits the Cullens. Although they don’t consume human blood, it’s still tempting for them, and Edward’s brother Jasper most of all. Not because he’s a new vampire, but because he’s a recent addition to the Cullen family, who limit themselves to animal blood. Before that, he feasted on hundreds of humans. The temptation is still strong for him.

Bella is opening her gifts from the Cullens when a minor mishap occurs. Well, it would be minor for most people, in normal situations. She gets a paper cut from the wrapping paper on one of the presents. Jasper flies out of control at the scent and sight of her blood, and although he’s restrained by the others, it’s an upsetting experience.

For Bella, even more so when Edward begins to withdraw from her. He becomes more and more distant and when he makes an abrupt departure, she feels as if her heart is broken-no, more than broken-ripped from her chest. There’s an empty feeling and she’s not sure she’ll ever feel whole again.

To placate her father, and in an attempt to seem as if she’s back to normal, Bella starts hanging out with Jacob, a friend from the nearby reservation. The question arises-could Jacob ever take Edward’s place in Bella’s heart?

Walt Disney Pictures has released the first and very interesting promo photos from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen.

USA Today has published the first look at some of the concept art for the movie. Click on any of the photos to enlarge.

“It has been Burton-ized” said the producer Richard Zanuck and it is the best description for Tim Burton’s vision of the original story. “The book itself is pretty dark. This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago,” Zanuck added.

Burton’s Alice is almost like a sequel to the original Lewis Carroll’s story:

The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.

Mia Wasikowska stars as Alice. “We met a lot of people, but she just had that certain kind of emotional toughness, standing her ground in a way that makes her kind of an older person with a younger person’s mentality.” Burton said. “There is something real, honest and sincere about her. She’s not a typical Hollywood starlet.” Zanuck added.

Tweedledee and Tweedledum are among the first characters to greet Alice. The twins are played by British comic Matt Lucas. They take her to meet the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp). Michael Sheen plays the White Rabbit, Alan Rickman - Caterpillar, Christopher Lee - Jabberwock, Stephen Fry - Cheshire Cat and Crispin Glover stars as The Knave of Hearts.

“We finished shooting in December after only 40 days,” Zanuck says. They’re working now on adding CG animation and motion-capture creatures.

Production Weekly has revealed that “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is scheduled to start filming on August 17.

“Iron Man 2″ takes place “six months after Stark revealed his identity as Iron Man” at the end of the first movie.

According to a scooper at CinemaBlend, Tony Stark will team with Nicky Fury from the Avenger project and Shield to take on the terrorist known as The Mandarin. I did some looking and it appears this rumor might have started with an interview Jon Favreau did with EW where he mentioned mandarin, quote;

Demon in a Bottle is one of the very strongest story lines of the of the series, and Iron Man is not a comic book character who is known for having wonderful storylines. He’s known for having great suits, great characters, but the villains kind of get thin at times, and it’s so very dated when you look at Communism and the metaphor. Politically, much of it doesn’t hold up well. And the Mandarin is incredibly challenging in that respect. So we have challenges ahead of us. Demon in a Bottle tends to be one that, from a storytelling perspective, is compelling to all of us.

Filming of “Iron Man” sequel reaching the halfway point, director Jon Favreau and star Mickey Rourke opened up a bit about the title character, Jim Rhodes/War Machine and villain Whiplash.

“Tony’s expected to be a role model and I don’t think he’s ready to be one,” Favreau told Empire. “He’s under a great deal of pressure and when you’re under pressure, I think you find outlets for that. That’s one of the tensions of the film: it’s one thing to say you’re Iron Man, and another thing to actually become Iron Man.”

Favreau hinted that Rhodes (Don Cheadle), will be tooling up big-time when he dons his own armored suit as War Machine. “Rhodesy is definitely stepping up in this film. Let me put it this way: Tony’s not the only person with technology in the film.”

“I’m having the time of my life,” said Rourke about portraying the new Iron Man nemesis Whiplash. “It’s been really brutal, because my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb. It’s sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison.”

Olivia Munn Joins Iron Man 2 Cast

Variety is reporting Olivia Munn, host of G4’s daily “Attack of the Show” has landed roles in Marvel Studios‘ anticipated sequel “Iron Man 2.”

USA Today has some more information about Munn’s upcoming role:

“All my scenes (in Iron Man 2) are with Robert Downey and one other actor. I don’t know how much I can say,” she says. “We were (improvising) and it came to me (to say a line) … (Later) Robert said, ‘Can we just stop a second and give Olivia a round of applause. She is rocking it. That made me feel good.”

Munn is also attached to “Date Night,” with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell, “Freeloaders“, and the upcoming Broken Lizard comedy “The Slammin Salmon“.

“Iron Man 2″ stars Robert Downey Jr. and the eponymous hero, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, Samel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.

The film is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 7, 2010.

Paul Walker Confirms Fast & Furious 5

Paul Walker and Vin Diesel spoke at a “Fast & Furious” press junket, revealing that fifth installment in the franchise is in the works.

When asked about a possible fifth movie in the franchise, Walker said:

“No but I’ve heard it. I’ve heard it in the rumor mill. Like, I’ve spoken with executives at Universal at this point, and they’re pretty serious about it. They know where they want it to take place. They want to do it in Europe.”

On the subject on Vin Diesel reprising his Toretto role for a third time, Walker was pretty candid:

”I know Vin’s in there already”

Walker would also love to see Tyrese Gibson’s character from “2 Fast 2 Furious” return.

”Oh, man, he’s my brother. I love that guy. I had so much fun with him making the second one. He’s just one of those people that’s fun to be around. He’s just a big kid.”

Director Rob Zombie unveiled a brand new poster for his upcoming “Halloween II“, the follow-up to their 2007 remake.

In the sequel, Michael Myers has returned home to sleepy Haddonfield, Illinois to take care of some unfinished family business. Unleashing a trail of terror that only horror master Rob Zombie can, Myers will stop at nothing to bring closure to the secrets of his twisted past. But the town’s got an unlikely new hero, if they can only stay alive long enough to stop the unstoppable.

The sequel stars Scout Taylor-Compton, Tyler Mane, Malcolm McDowell, Chase Wright Vanek, Sheri Moon Zombie, Danielle Harris, Ezra Buzzington, Brea Grant, Matt Bush, Dayton Callie, Richard Brake, Howard Hesseman, Chris Hardwick, Bill Fagerbakke and Caroline Williams.
